Default Driving shoes- what do you wear at HPSC/DE/FATT events?

Just wondering what everyone wears for shoes at track events. Also, any recommendations on a decent helmet and gloves? Anyone use helmet supports?

Thanks! Looking to sign up for a few FATT events this summer. Sorry if this has been asked before...

Stan Smith sneakers, size 10.5

I think at bare minimum you want rubber soled "tie" shoes. Loafers not prefered. No sandals, no "heels". Wait until you get completely hooked before you go out and get any dedicated equipment.

I did finally break down and get a set of gloves, moreso to preserve my steering wheel from sweat. Simpson by brand.

Get a pair of wresting sneakers, they look like ordinary sneakers, readily available and have thin soles so you can feel the pedals. FATT usually have helmets as loaners. Good advice, don't go buying anything untill you have done a couple of events.rare cases have turned up where people were not hooked.after a couple of events you will have a better idea where to spend your bucks. Helmet, helmet support would be first, brands vary in size and fit so try a couple. SA 2005 apparently are not likely to be out till the end of the year, I think the SA 2000 is good till 2009? by which time you will need to replace the 2000 because it probably walked away as rank and beat up as h**l

Lots start off with wrestling shoes. Then move up to racing (fire retardant) types. I still use Mechanic gloves for most DEs but have real driving gloves too. Helmets, gloves and shoes are real personal. I don’t like full face, Linda does. We both like Velcro on gloves and shoes. We both like high top shoes, and gauntlet type real gloves. Linda likes the helmet support collar, I don’t. Some even like the color of their cars so much they try and coordinate their outfits accordingly :P You need to visit OG Racing or the like and see what works for you.

Whew. I save my "heels" for Wednesday "dress up nights" with the boys. One night a week is enough.

Thanks for the info! I know I'll be HOOKED (like a junkie on crack). Hey- I own a 996, so buying a Gucci-print suit and matching helmet are de riguer. I might want to wear driving gloves so I don't damage my manicure.

Since my car (and hair) are grey I think I'm color coordinated enough.

My friend, you got senior-ity on dirt!

Ratty old Nikes most of the time and Simpson track togs sometimes. Bell M2 helmet SA95 and I am glad that it is going out of date next year as I am too cheap to chuck it just from being worse than my Nikes inside.
