Default '72 911E w/ 2.7 RS+ Engine

Offering here first and then in Pano.

White with black leatherette sunroof coupe. $19,000 OBO.

The car was recently mechanically restored and can be driven anywhere. Epitome of a driver, the paint and interior reflect the previous owner’s attempt at a restoration and are in decent - good condition. Door pockets are shot but the rest of the interior is all there and the elec s/r works fine. PO tried his hand at a restoration and did a new dash, seats, etc. Purists will note the ’73 shift lever and knob and wood-rimmed Personal steering wheel are not ’72 items but the former makes sense, given the outrageous mechanically-injected RS motor it’s now connected to. Original instrumentation--the Kph speedometer was replaced by PO but I have it and boxes of parts that all go with it.

I lovingly spent over $23,000 last summer to mechanically restore this car including the following:

Body: straight, rust-free sunroof coupe body
  • Front half pan professionally installed, sealed and painted
    Gas tank re-sealed and painted
Rear firewall panel under rear window replaced; another common but usually ignored rust area on early 911s
Original steel S bumper with correct ’72 chrome bumper guards
Older (early 90’s) white repaint has some orange peel. A decent “20 footer” overall. Small dent in LR Qtr panel.
All trim was sanded and blacked out by PO.

Engine: very high quality rebuild by a long-time early 911 mechanic and finished last fall including:
  • Late 2.7 7R magnesium case with all oil updates (still have the orig case)
    re-plated Nicasil 2.7 barrels
    new 9.7:1 90mm JR pistons
SC oil pump and custom aeroquip oil feed hoses to original ’72 oil tank. Modifications made for front-mounted oil cooler.
    Carrera tensioners
Rebuilt E MFI pump to RS specs by Gus @ Pacific FI
Original throttle bodies bored and replated/adjusted
Original E heads ported to 36/35 per RS spec
All new Valves, Guides, Springs and Lifters
Original plastic stacks bored out to 36mm
    WebCam S cams
    Bosch CD and Pertronix ignition
All tin modified for better air flow
Engine runs great with stock-type exhaust and SS exchangers

Transmission was rebuilt and updated to later 915 case with all new sliders and synchros. Original ’72 gear set.

Suspension: this car handles like a slot car and was setup for street and DE/Autocross
  • New 22/28 torsion bars
New Sport Bilsteins front and rear
A struts with Carrera Calipers, Rotors & Pads in front
22mm Sway bars front and rear
    Turbo tie rods
5 6x15 original Fuchs wheels in very good condition with no curb rash
New 205x55 Bridgestone tires and full alignment in October, 2004

$19,000 OBO. No trades. Call/e-mail me for pics and more info; 703-854-6665 M-F.
