Default HPDC - Helmet?

Probably been asked before but I couldn't find an answer. Can you use a motorcycle helmet for the track part of the HPDC?

The following is from the Tech inspection page of the PCA Potomac website, home of "official" PCA stuff.

http://www.pcapotomac.org/pca/html/d...pections.shtml

HPDC
A tech inspection is not required for the High Performance Driving Clinics. A simplified tech inspection will be performed at the track the morning of the event. It is recommended that you look you car over prior to the event to avoid any nasty surprises. The Potomac tech form can be used as a guide. “M” helmets are allowed at HPDC events but only at HPDC, NOT at any other Drivers Education event.

Go to OG racing in Sterling, VA . http://www.ogracing.com/
Try on a couple helmets to see which has the best fit, and stinks the least.

I did that once when I picked up my roll bar.
Can I / do I need to reserve one in advance?
How long do they let you keep it?

Give OG (VA) a call and they'll ship the rental helmet to your house. Usually takes one day. Then ship it back to them the following Monday.

If you get into a bind, you can try to rent a helmet at the OG Summit store. Be aware that availability may be an issue when renting at the track.

Shipping sounds expensive, but looking at fuel costs, It would probably be cheaper than burning 1/2 a tank to get there and back. But then again, now thatmy car is on the road I find myself voulnteering to do all the errands.

Nah...only a couple bucks each way...totally worth it in my opinion. One less thing for you to worry about the morning of your event.

Werd. OG doesn't open until 9 or so - after you're in class. So then you have to worry about taking a break to go get a helmet, and what if they don't have any left? No track session for you in the afternoon. Get one early.
