I've been doing a lot of reading lately and would appreciate any first hand knowledge. I am looking for tires that I will drive to the track, get at least 3-4 events from and will have the most grip possible. Current size is 225/50 and 245/45 on 16's, 7 and 9's. The current street tires arent up to the task, the 'new' car has a bit more power than the 3.0. I prefer predictability and price to lap times, I'm slow and I know it.
Option 1) Yoko A032 - Appear to give the least amount of grip of R tires, but last forever. Another good point is they are decent in the race. I would be going with the hard compound. I've heard some folks get an entire DE season out of these tires. Woohoo! Option 2) RA-1's. Everyone loves 'em, havent heard a bad thing. They seem to wear more than the 32's and are basically the same $$. Options 3)Victoracers. A little cheaper than the above, but wear could be an issue, mixed results from what I've read. They seem to work best when shaved on dry use, do they *have* to be shaved? Also, wet traction and to the track could be an issue. The price is nice, but not sure they are the best solution. I came acoross a set of track wheels with new Victoracers mounted, hmmm. Is there another tire in these sizes I should be considering? There are some nice street tires I would like to try but unfortunalely they arent offered in the sizes I need. By the way; I'm a blue student with enough sense to know I'm not ready for Hoosiers. Thanks for any help! Chris

A032R - H compound. Two of my wheels sets have these. They are good for rain and less than mild temps. Unlike MPSC they don't take forever to heat up. Ultimate grip is less, but they'll make more noise and not breakaway as quickly. Like you said, last long too.
My third set of wheels (doesn't everybody?) have MPSC, more grip but less useful in less than optimal conditions.

Sears Roadhandler's. I think I'll be able to get about 15 track seasons out of them befroe getting them recapped. :P

When I bought my SC I ran the A032's after running them on my 914. I thought they would last quite a while and all. They didn't. I was going through the Yokes and the Victoracers at the same rate. THe Khumos were cheaper, so, I continue to run them.
Perhaps an extreme example but, if you use (abuse?) anything they will wear out. That said, the yokes do have better rain characteristics and would likely be a better value overall, especially if you are still advancing in skills. I've never used the Toyo's or MPSC's, but my opinion would be that the MPSC's are likely the best compromise tire for street/track/autocross use and might be the best choice for you.

Don't listen to anyone else, Goodyear Wranglers for this weekend maybe Blizacks. Otherwise RA1 have more tread than MPSC, last pretty darn well on the street, are very good as a track only tyre when worn down or shaved.
