Default Where were all the Porsches today?

What a beautiful New Year's Day...

Mid 60 degree weather inspired me to actually start the 911 (starting it was another story I'll bore you with later ) and go for a drive. I was out cruising in Loudoun county in the Leesburg/Manassas/Centerville areas and saw only 2 porsches! (a 996 targa and a dark blue or black 914 with flares.. nice 8) ) but that was it! 4 vettes, a couple of M3's but sadly, no other Porsches.

Oh what a way to start the new year ... my youngest son and I got out for about an hour ride in the SC today. Nothing quite like bringing in the new year with both your babies

I saw 3 other 911's and got 2 waves back. The 1 no-wave was a women in a red cabrio 996 and she had the top up!

Didn't realize you were in South Riding. I'm right up 606 in Herndon and my route today took me by your main entrance on RT 50.

Hopefully some other Dorki's managed to log some seat time today 8)

Yeah ... 350 miles behind the wheel of of a 5000# missile on the east coast's gun-running route (I-95 for you youngsters). Had P-car parts in the hauler though ... does that count?

My 3 yr old and I only saw one 993 while we were out putting some miles on the 911 just south of Frederick on I270. I like Dave, thought with the weather being what it is, would have seen alot more of Stuttgart's best.

You guys just aren't looking in the right places . I spent 80 miles behind the wheel today, almost all of it on twisty back roads devoid of traffic excepting for the occasional bicyclist. What a great day. Never thought I'd spend the last part of the daylight on New Year's day washing the joyriding dust off my car.

What else would a true blue Dorki do on a day like today??
Drop an engine, of course!

Many thanks to Dave R, Eric [yesterday] and decent weather, we dropped #11's engine and hauled it off to it's intensive care ward where it will be rebuilt over the next few weeks.

After dropping the 911 engine in two hours at the track, the 944 turbo engine drop was a character bulding experience. Thanks to Dave R's contstant " did I tell you I hate working on these things' we managed to stay sane AND get the lump out in an speedy 12 hours or so.

I'll post pics tomorrow of the rather large thing that was attached to the oil drain plug. Prize for the first to identify the part.
Stay tuned!

That sure is a long time to be cursing. Driving your Porsche is supposed to be fun.

Started the Targa after removing the top and charging the battery. Oh what a way to bring a smile to my face. When I pulled out of the drive, all was right with the world. Stopped at a light (first up) an in the left lane are 2 great Harleys with a couple side-by-side. 8) We all exchanged thumbs-up. I wish I had another hour or so to go longer, but the remodeling work wasn't going to get done by itself.
