Default New to me seats?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...hreadid=190259

I found these at PP. Cheap seats for/from an 86 951.
I'm not good with the car numbers. What's a 951?
The guy said they would fit a 911.
To my untrained eye the look like the typical seat found in a 84+ carerra.
Electric on the drivers side.
Were settled on $100 but I want to know what it's going to take to get them in my car.

I test drove an 86 Carerra once and the seats were much better than my stock SC seats. I'm not racing so I'm not all that concerned about the weight. They're "linen" tan to me but I plan on recovering anyway.

I just hope they don't smell to Funky!

So is this a good or bad idea?
What's it take to get them in my car?

4 bolts each, reuse the ones that are already there. If you have an electric drivers seat, just plug in the new one.

They might fit, but if it were me, I'd be a little wary. They don't look like they had an easy life, so who knows what the condition of the foam in the seats is in?

FWIW, I know some local guys - like Richard - might be selling seats to upgrade to racing seats. Might be worth a look.

Might be selling? I'm surprised they're still in there. He's had that car, what, 2 weeks? :P

Ummm. I wouldn't reuse the seat bolts - I think they've got deformable heads and they're an important part of the driver/passenger's safety system.

Or not?

Bob got me thinking about this.
Are you sure it's that easy? (4 bolts)
I do see that these seats have the seat belt reciever on the seat. Mine are bolted to the tunnel. I assume that that is better for safety anyway.
If I install them that way the bolts arn't as important as Bob brought up.
I think my rails have captured nuts and the bolts are pretty small like 6mm with only 10 mm heads. I can deal with the hardware, but want to be sure the rails arn't in a different location or height.

I don't have power, but guess it's just 2 wires?

Next on to figuring out what a re-covering kit will cost. Anyone got a link to a supplier?

I just did new to me seats myself and in all my research never saw such information. I was actually surprised at how *small* the bolts were. The bolts holding in the a/c compressor are bigger.

A tip, I had to use a 1/4" drive socket to get between the rails on mine, but their from a 993. If I get time, I will do my tech write up on the subject. Lot's of photos.

Did you re-cover them?
Who sells kits at a reasonable price?

I bought a set of 993 seats off a guy on Pelican. Here's the write up I did on the project:
