Default Official Fun Run #7 thread - Saturday, Oct 23rd.

Allright gentlemen,

The votes are in and the date has offically been set for Sat., Oct 23rd.

For the folks who have been on the last 2 runs, this run will be quite similar as no time to scout new roads.

As usual, all information is below.

Please post questions, etc.......

Date: Saturday, Oct. 23rd. No rain Date at this time.

Meeting Time: Between 8:00 am and 8:15 am

Please arrive prior to 8:15 as we'll go over the route in detail then. I'll provide maps and the route outline on Saturday morning.

Meeting Location: The Plains, VA. See directions below.

Departure Time: 8:30 am

Driving Distance: Approx 150 miles

Driving Time: Plan for 3-4 hours including mid point break.

If you have hand held radios (i.e., Motorola's, Cobra's etc) please bring them along. If you have any extras, please bring them along as well. As mentioned before, they are great for keeping a large group informed.

Meeting location:
The Plains, VA. Corner of Bragg St. and Stuart St. across the barn and alongside the railroad tracks.
Take I-66 West. to exit number 31- toward THE PLAINS/ OLD TAVERN. Make a right off the exit ramp onto VA-245. Take 245 to first stop sign (RT 55). Make a left onto RT 55 West and then make immediate right onto Bragg St. Follow Bragg St. all the way back to Stuart.

You guys got any idea how much it hurts to see these runs going on when I don't have a street car any more? As a founding member of the Fun Run crew [I think there were around 10 of us on the first run and less than 20 on the second] I need a street car. Maybe I should try to register the DeerSlayer. Now that would be fun!

It's on ! I'm there.
Tony, you should register the deer slayer to bring it to fun runs and to schlep around town. Your 951 would lead the pack .

How about a post Fun Run cookout at my place. I cleared it with the Appropriations Committee Chair (wife) , and she said go for it. Beer, Burgers, Brauts, and Beer. Did I mention Beer? I need to break in the new deck and patio. So, weather permitting, EVERYONE is invited back to my place after the fun run for lunch and smack talk. :P Plenty of parking as I live on a dead end. Those who can't make the fun run are also welcome to join. I'll post directions to my place this week.

Charlie - minor point I'm sure, but please clarify ... at the top of your post you say Nov 23rd but in the subject line and also one other place in the post you say Oct 23rd. I assume you meant next weekend, 10/23 but please confirm.

Just curious, but are you using a previous route or have you put together a new one?

Unless something changes with work I plan on being there (with my oldest son) and will bring along a few radios.

TK - there were actually 8 of us on the first run back in 6/02. An interesting note is that of those 8, only 4 of us have the same cars today

I'm most probably going to use the same route from the May run since we didnt have a huge turn out for that one. It includes the first leg from FR5 and another leg from a previous FR. BTW: Doug, I think I may have given you a map of this route.

Count me out

Oct/Nov are way too busy for me. I have/will be driving to CT every other weekend in Oct and Nov for wedding and family events. Although I'll be in town this weekend, so will my inlaws, and I can't get out of that. Have fun and take lots of pics.
