The feedback on the Brass Bushings has been quite positive. I feel that this is a good product that produces positive results and would like to start taking orders for the first production run.
![]() ![]() A little background: Between the shift lever and the transmission there are many places where 20+ years of wear between components can contribute to a sloppy feel in the shifter, the shift coupler being one of them. Even with fresh OEM or aftermarket bushings there is still a fair amount of play in the coupler due and the fact that the plastic bushings deform under load, warp over time, and also dampen the feel between the transmission and shifter. The Brass Bushings are machined to tight tolerances, creating a direct link between the shift rod and transmission with virtually no play or isolation. The result is a marked improvement of crispness and precision in the shifter and increased feel and feedback from the transmission, quite comparable to more expensive u-joint type replacements. The Brass Bushings will fit the following models - years: 356 - 1962-65 914 - 73-76 912 - 1965 - 1969, 1976 911 - 1965 - 1986 911 - Turbo (930) 1976 - 1988 I would also recommend replacing the ball-cup bushing underneath the shifter housing and the shift rod bushing in the tunnel behind the shifter housing. These are the other 2 most common links that wear over time. Price, payment, and time of delivery: The initial pre-payment introductory price is $29.99 (includes shipping in the Continental US), which includes 1 set of bushings and installation instructions. If ordering outside the Continental US, please PM or e-mail me for additional shipping costs. I’d like to receive about 30+ pre-orders to get the best quantity/pricing. If I can’t get enough orders to get the first run produced, I will obviously refund any pre-orders I receive. Once the orders have been placed with the machine shop, please wait 4-5 weeks for delivery. I’ll let you know the approximate date of delivery when the order has been placed. Any questions or comments please PM or e-mail me. You can PayPal to charliestylianos@yahoo.com or mail payment to: Charlie Stylianos 1027 N. Livingston St Arlington, VA 22205 Please don’t forget to include your shipping address. Thanks for your time, -Charlie

I must have missed where the genesis of this initiave was posted....
Is this a totally Dorki developed item - do these not exist any where else? Will this be something that is going to market? I'm behind the curve on this one, but am interested nonetheless

Totally a Dorki developed item. See thread where it all started: http://www.dorkiphus.com/porsche/viewtopic.php?t=1843 These do not exist anywhere else (and I hope they don’t start popping up elsewhere). Don't know if they are destined for 'market' yet, but they will be offered on the PP BBS soon and Wayne is trying a set out this weekend to see if he wants to offer in his catalog. We'll see how they do......Thanks for your support.

No I saw that thread come out of the blue and still didn't understand. I assume it comes with "everything you see here" in the second photo meaning I don't have to visit a machine shop to press them in, correct?

Charlie,
Sent my order and payment. Should help that stick-in-a-bucket-of-mashed-potatoes feel of my '81 Targa. Thanks, Rich |
