Default No Front License Plate

Why is it that so many Porsches are driving around without front license plates?

Because it fell off. Yeah. The screws got stripped. Yeah, that's it. And the parts are on order at the dealership. Yeah. That's why the front plate is under my passenger seat.

I wonder what the drag coefficient raises to with a front plate?

I'm still looking for the NLA mounting bracket for the 73E.

I have a couple sets, but they’re made from un-attain-ium alloy & of course $$$ Actually, you can still get the license holder (the part that the plate attaches to) from Performance. It’s the little brackets that attach the holder to the early car valance that are scarce. They are really light weight & probably gone the first time you park nose in

Yes, but, these don't seem to be fully valid explanations. Not cool? You can decide what it says. Presently, "2COOOOL" 8) is still available in Virginia (so is "DORKPHS", if you'd rather go that direction). And why is a bracket an impediment? There are still holes for mounting. Just drill a hole in the plate to fit. And even if the bracket thing is an issue for early cars, I see a lot of the later model (post 90) cars driving around with fully functional tag mounting spaces but no tags.

What's the reason? Is there one? Am I missing something here?

Why add more weight?
That front plate will cost you two horsepower at least, not to mention the aerodynamic disadvantage it will cause .
For the record my mounting brackets were custom made for brown SC's in the 70's, and they are NLA .

Reasons #1, 2 and 3. They Cr@P up the front end lines of 911s.

I have a brand new holder that i got from the PO but plan to plead "It is missing? Oh Darn...I guess it just fell off when I was pulling out of the parking lot"

Besides If you drive fast enough all they will see is the back!

Because it fell off or was "removed" by someone (in the last three days) and I have to order another"personlized" plate which can only be done in person at the DMV. If you see someone running around with SPDEMON please steal er, reclaim the plate for me!
