Default Installing an Air bag Switch

Has anyone ever put in an airbag switch for the passenger side? I have a 92 American Roadster and would like to put one in. Here is one reply/quote i have received so far:

I do have an airbag on/off switch for your 1992 Porche America Roadster. I do have a Mobile Installer who will come to your home or work to install the switch.

My installer will come to your home or work, and the price for parts, labor, trip to your home, including tax, is $425.

Thanks,

Phil

Wow. That is a lot of money.

On the other hand, I'm sure the guy knows the simple equation

Porsche + Critical & Complex Saftey System = $$$$$$

The big question is how much is the switch they are installing? Is it a special, DOT approved airbag disconnect switch that costs $300 and your paying $125 for a guy to install it? Of is it a $25 switch + $400 labor. In either case, given the nature of the system, would you feel confortable doing it yourself?

Default air bag switch

I did have another quote of $200 (not including labor) but the unit has a fuse and when it blowes you have to replace the switch. the $425 quote is for a switch with gold contacts etc. here is their web site.
