Default 915 shift improvements

During my extended rebuild I decided to install a few items to improve the awful shifting of my 915. I put in a Factory short shift, a Seine System shift gate, and a Stomski Shift coupler. WOW what a huge difference! I didn't realize how loose and vague the shifting was until I tried it with these goodies. The slop is completely GONE. The throw is shortened and the action is more presice. I would recommend these mods to anyone with a 915 gearbox.

You sure the improvements aren't from you're super-duper bling-bling polished shifter? Maybe I should do that to the true sports car.

I hope to see your car this weekend - I want to see if there's a big different with the addition of the Stomski couple.

Chris,
What the camera didn't pick up was the "Type R" logo I had etched into the shift lever. I'm sure it was this mod that made the shifting that much quicker.

Ted, the Seine gate shift and a shorter shift is where its at. Chris helped me install my gate shift kit, and was kind enough to give me a shorter shift. I don't know how the Stomski coupler feels with the set up, but I know mine is a vast improvement from how it shifted before.

I gave Pari the OEM shifter from my 85. 85 and 86 915s shifters had a 10% reduced throw. The Factory SS has a 20% reduced throw over pre-85 cars and 10% reduction for 85-86 cars.

Don't worry Pari, we won't tell the SCWDP that you have superior Carrera parts in your car

Nice but the weld work looks a little sloppy...

Thanks Chris! I won't tell anyone that Carrera's have inferior hose fittings for their brake vacuum assist system.

I installed a Rennshift gate shifter that I bought at Hershey. It made a huge improvement over the stock setup. No more worries about finding the d@mn gear while mackpipes is trying to carom off of Dino at SP Turn 1. I think this is the same setup that Justin installed in his teener.

Oops, I can't say anything against the Carrera's. I'm out numbered here with the smack talk ! Just wait until I get the Carrera tail on my 911, I wonder what people will say then, uh oh !

Jim, do you know what the difference is between the Seine and Rennshift gate shift kits? Watch Le Mans a few times consecutively, that will have you feeling better in no time .
