Default What is this metal line attatch to the cross over pipe?

Hi,
I am prepping for the HEs drop this weekend and came accross a metal line connecting to the cross over pipe of 78SC. It seems to run into the eng. compartment. What is it for and can i disconnect it from the crossover pipe?. Thanks for your help. Andy

Andy:

I believe that goes to the EGR system on that car. It is impossible to remove the EGR valve without droping the engine at least a little bit. You can deactivate the valve by plugging the 2 vacuum lines that go to the valve with golf tees.

Hi Bill and Marc
The HEs drop went very well. Thanks to BIll's loaner 8mm hex socket, they were dropped 20min. after I got back from Bill's house. The EGR tube unbolted with a little help from WD-40 and a pipe wrench. The HEs are in pretty bad shape. There are a lot of rusts and oil inside the HEs. I am not sure if they can be repaired or cleaned out. So now I am back to shopping for another set of clean HEs. If you guys see them anywhere for sale, please drop me a line?. Bill, could you please PM me your mailing address and I'll send the socket back to you via post?. Thanks again for all your help. Best, Andy
