Need top end rebuild tools. Once I get it back together, I will need the tools to do the cam timing on my '82 sc. It has the late set up. Also I need one of those ttensioner holders as I am sticking with my OE style tensioners. Thanks!

I unfortunately don't have any leads on the cam tools. Instaed of using the mechanical tensioners for holding the chains tight, a c-clamp or big vise grips on the idler arms and chain housing work fine. Trick here is to make sure both chains are tight and evenly tensioned.

The trick with removing the stubborn heads studs is to heat the inside of the case where the studs screw in. The factory used some sort of locking compound and the idea is to melt/breakdown that compound. The oxy/mapp setup is fine for this task. It may take a little longer to heat up as the AL. case will quickly transfer the heat, but will work. Keep constant pressure on the stud while heating and it will eventually give.

Somewhere out here in Dorki land are my cam nut holder and crow's foot. Hopefully they will turn up and you may use for your project. I also highly recommend the stud extractor tool I purchased for my projects. Only down side is I live out Sterling/Dulles/Herndon way.

I have a rust hole that needs some sheet metal. Is that something you can do?
My guess is it's about 1/2 - 1 hr. for someone who knows what their doing.
Unfortunately I can't move the car. I'll post some pictures of the spot that needs it.

Hi Bill. Yup pretty good with a welder. Not sure if I will be around as I may be a wrench for the 500 this weekend. My mig is portable and I have some spare cold roll galvenize laying around.

I have been trying the mapp/oxy but there are atleast 2 studs that managed to burn through over 2 oxy tanks w/o budging and I had the heat in the right place. I don't know why mine want to be so stubborn but, they do. I really believe I need O/A.

Bill, I think my enginew should be identical to yours. So the tools should match as well. Where is your hole?

The hole is in the front left above the bumper shock bracket. I believe mud get's trapped there behind the washer bottle and the rust worked it's way in.
I posted some pictures in my "project help" post and more ate in the members gallery.

I bought a few pieces of sheet metal at home depot last night. I did't get galvanized because I recall (Maybe from long ago) that welding galvanized created bad fumes.
Anyway I'm going to start and cut some templates from thick paper. I'm gonna get these to fit before messing with the steel.
I might do this in a few layers. I dont have a break.

I used a arcwelder dozens of time, but not the newer wire welders. Some day I'm gonna buy one. I don't know enough about the different types to make a decision.
