Problem solved -- new bolts arrived early.
Does anyone have a spare 8mm CV joint bolt for early 986 Boxsters? The part number is 900-067-211-09, the size is m8x50, and it takes a 6mm hex wrench. The head of one of mine stripped before I could get it torqued properly (was already damaged from the past), and I don't have any spares. I would really like to get the car back together this weekend, because I still have a lot of work to get ready for the DE in 2 weekends. If I have to, I can order a replacement on Monday, but who knows how long that will take?

I think this is the same thing. But has a 12pt "cheeshead". If it will work...I'll give it to ya for a 12 pack. Of TP

Excellent point about ordering online. I ordered some from MSC, but they won't get here until Monday. Would still like to get the car back together this weekend if possible.
According to their web sites, neither Lowes nor Home Depot have the right type/style bolt. Thanks for the offer, but right now, it would probably be cheaper to buy a 12 pack of good lager than TP, and much easier to find, too.

If it were the same 6mm hex head as the other bolts, I'd drive out tonight to get it. Yeah, I know, beggars can't be choosers, but I can wait if I have to for a closer match to the stock bolts. Was hoping you were kidding about the TP, but with how ... silly ... everyone seems to be acting (and over-reacting) lately, can't always tell.

Once again, MSC and UPS to the rescue. The new bolts arrived yesterday, which was a very pleasant surprise. So, the car is back together and will go for an alignment this week.

Good news. I'm sure its store dependant but I've had good luck with metric hardware at the local Ace and Lowes. Might have to cut or chase a few more threads sometimes but it beats have a car stuck on the rack.
