Default Looking for a new tow vehicle

My 2004 Tahoe is pushing 233,000
Im looking for a new or new Tahoe and am getting frustrated with the dealer run around.

Anyone out there that will share how these cars are priced given the incentives.
i also have a gm supplier discount but cant figure out how much its worth.

gm tells me that the dealer owns the car and ultimately decides the price.
Yes, that was their answer!

Well it is true, isn't it? The dealerships are not typically owned by GM, and the vehicles are typically not on consignment as far as I am aware.

True, but gm is offering a special discount. But they won't tell me what it is.

Supplier discount is likely the same as family discount.. cuts through the MSRP but won't be lower than invoice unless the vehicle in question just cant get itself sold. SUVs are hot now, but in the ads, GMC/Chevy/Ford etc have $8-12-15K off msrps (at least on certain pickups) this time of year..

Dave, Are you in the business?

I'm starting to think the Supplier Discount Program is just the factory referring its employees (Keeping them captive) to their independent dealers with a so called "special incentive" that the "independant" dealers have no obligation to honor.

Not knowing how the internet referral schemes work I was all over the internet getting a few of them to get me pricing.

One dealer said their special and the true car pricing was better than the GMS supplier discount. (I have no way of confirming this because I cant get anyone to tell me what the discount is.)

I also learned that using the referral (True Car) may have added $300 or more of cost to the dealer.

What I'm looking for is hard to find and I may have to order it.

I'm still open to finding a used 2014 tahoe with relativly low miles if anyone it trading up!

Welp..
I bought another Tahoe
2019 LS
Custom Edition... Deletes Awkward 3rd seat. reduced price $4200.
Trailering package with 3.42 axles, integrated brake controler and air shocks.

The GM pricing turned out to be a game.
$44,000 out the door with 36 mo. free financing.

Sport Chevrolet got the sale because they had one of the rare blue colors and were honest and easy to deal with.

With the high end Tahoe's pushing over $75k. it was really hard to fine even a used one this low.

I'm keeping my old Tahoe as a beater until it dies.

I looked that on google the other day and provided a rough estimate. It also said it was take before the other promos. We bought our f150 with fords friends and family. Worked well but not as good as good as a motivated dealers. Problem is trucks are selling well so little incentive to deal.

I’m looking for a new truck too. Though after surfing the web and looking at Tacomas I’ll probably wait to see the new ranger befor jumping.

Congrats on the Tahoe.

Just to add to the manufacturer's discount discussion: at least until 2013 when I left The People's Car Company, friends &family and I think supplier discounts we're basically equal to invoice, plus or minus depending on whether it was for Audi or VW. The dealer does own the car, but the discount cert pays the dealer an incentive payment from the manufacturer.

Dealer pricing can be less than manufacturer discount price - they do indeed own the car and set the final price. VW and Audi have decent leverage with dealers to get them to play along, GM probably does not. Too bad, as the discounts are a nice way to get employees and suppliers to become brand advocates. I sold about 10 VWs and 4 Audis in my time there, and the buyers were happy, so the effect can multiply.
