ROAD TRIP ’04 – Heading back to Canada!

The question is: which of the great options will we pursue…?

For a little background, in addition to my formal duties as Potomac Track Coordinator, for the third year I have scoured the east coast track schedules to pull together an interesting Road Trip to a destination track. The opportunities were limited by availability, reasonableness, and the Potomac DE and Club Race schedule. Ultimately, this left June as the primary target month and all roads point north for a return trip to Mont Tremblant! Every one of us who drove Le Circuit Mont Tremblant last year emphatically says it is our favorite track, and it is a great family destination, as well (see the article in the latest Panorama).

Here are the options being considered (estimated prices in $US based on 1.32 exchange rate):
  • Buy 3-day pass for the F1 Canadian GP, Montreal, June 11-13 ($265)
  • Drive Mont Tremblant, Rennsport Region DE, June 14-16 ($400)
*** Or ***
  • Drive Mosport, Dexter Autosport Lapping Day, June 11 ($265)
  • Scalp a one-day ticket for the F1 race on Sunday June 13 ($???)
  • Drive Mont Tremblant, Rennsport Region DE, June 14-16 ($400)
Our PCA friends in Canada may be able to assist in getting F1 tickets and provide recommendations for lodging, parking, etc., but we must act quickly. I have negotiated a discount on the Howard Dexter Lapping day (7 hours of open track) if we were to choose that option, but we need to register by March 1 and have at least 5 drivers. PCA event registration can be coordinated to ensure acceptance, but each person will need to register individually on March 1st.

I need to know ASAP if anyone is interested in joining on this trip. If you are interested, please send an email to trackrentals@pcapotomac.org and indicate which option you prefer (full F1 experience or a day at Mosport) and how many would be traveling with you.

Merci!

Default No Response???

For all the spirited bravado I hear emanating from the proud Dorki, there seems to be distinct lack of testes when it comes to adventurous road trips. Not one Dorki brave enough to consider heading to Canada???

Come on! There must be at least one member who is man enough to take on the adventure…or is it all show, no go; a bunch of whipped sissy boys who fear venturing out of their own neighborhood!

Okay, I trust that I’ve now got your attention! The group is forming and we have room for a couple more to join us. This is indeed an incredible track and an absolutely wonderful destination. Every single one of us who drove Le Circuit Mont Tremblant last year absolutely loved it – it’s the best track we’ve ever driven!

You can view a lap of the track at http://www.lecircuit.com/events.htm.

Don’t miss out – get in touch with me ASAP if you’re interested in going. 8)

Double Wow!

What about "adventurous trips" to Sebring, Moroso, Road Atlanta, Daytona, mid-ohio and LRP?

You got my attention but I'm still not going ... this year.

Now there is a tactic we should bring to PCA National's attention: browbeat, emasculate, and otherwise belittle members into getting involved! Why hasnt someone else thought of this before? Why, if we could just bring a hoard of sobbing P-car owners to these events, how fun that would be!

I suggest you leave me "testes" alone big guy!

Default Finally!

Glad to know I could get a rise out of someone on the board; just making sure you're all paying attention!

It would be great to build on last year's attendance of 6 Potomac members representing the region in Mont Tremblant - please consider joining us! 8)

Afraid to venture out of my own neighborhood for an adventurous road trip? I think not!

Just yesterday I went from my home in Falls Church and drove all the way to Arlington to get some gas. Hell, my wife even let me take my testes along for the ride. :P

Geez Eric, what a shot across the bow! I did a 2,500 mile road trip (including Canada) in the 993 bloatmobile a few months ago. Was thinking about a side trip to "Le Circuit" but the wife didn't want to take any time away from Quebec City. Lime Rock was a nice diversion on our way up as it was a weekend for Historic racing. And let's see, I've got hotel reservations for Mid-Ohio (can't wait to register for that DE!), and in the planning stage for Watkins Glen. VIR will have to wait for later in the season. Oh, my brother, the Corvette racer , wants me to come to visit in Wisconsin one of these days...so maybe next season I'll fit in a DE at Road America. Eric, are you keeping up with all this? :P

Default Last Chance!

Last Chance to Sign Up!

Hopefully, everyone has had an opportunity to review the many excellent track events available this year and has developed their desired track schedule. One of the more exciting options is joining the Potomac group returning to Canada in June. Due to the advance coordination required, and rapidly approaching registration dates, I need to hear from everyone interested in going no later than this Wednesday, February 25th.

As of now, we have a total of four drivers signed up (Mike, Dirk, Nando and me) and a few others who have expressed interest. Please email me at trackrentals@pcapotomac.org as soon as possible if you are thinking about joining us!

Please join us – you’ll have a great time!

Eric, Talk about smack... Your reading for tonight "How to win friends and influence others" Wrong set of folks to smack. Wi know that you were talking in jest but for the most part are not the "Which color shift knob should I get" set and most Dorki are new to track events. Some of us have lives, wives, kids, and the like. The ability to drop $$$ and pop off to Mt T for 6 days total is of little relation to the size of the set. Keeping the foot in it through the rollercoster while on the bumper of a high HP corner pointer at VIR is another story...

You got our attention...

Default Shakespeare...

To maintain peace and harmony amongst my fellow Dorki, I hereby apologize and retract my comments related to lack of response and participation in Road Trip ’04.

I feel this is necessary not only because some did not take the jest in the spirit in which it was intended, but also because it is best to put an end to it now lest anyone affirm the assertions with the voracity of their defensive response! Reference “The lady doth protest too much, me thinks.” (Shakespeare's Hamlet, Act III, Scene II).

All I really hoped to elicit was a spirited response with the anticipation that someone from the group would actually join us on this fantastic trip! We’re up to five participants, and there is still room for more! Dorki are still welcome!
