My '86 944 N/A has 30mm torsion bars, Konis and 425lb. springs in the front. I currently have a 24mm swaybar in the front and 17 in the rear. Car is really only driven on track unless I drive it the 45 minutes to SP from home, but not really worried about street ride quality. Looking to make it handle better on track....is going to 968 m030 bars too much or the way to go?

What about the car's handling are you trying to fix?

I'm trying to "finish" this car. Trying to make it handle the best it can, rather than a car I have now that is not street but also not as capable on track as it can be. So to answer your question, I would say less body roll, however I'm also painfully aware of my lack of suspension IQ and don't want to slap parts on resulting in a car that becomes a nightmare to drive.

M030. You've already got stiff springs, may as well go with stiff bars too

At a minimum, M030 stuff... I'd go even stiffer in the front....

I have a M030 bar laying around if you're looking for one.

There are a lot of compliant suspension bushings you may want to replace as well as add stiffer bars, stiffer springs. Changing the bushings lets you "feel" things a little easier as well.
If I were going to the trouble of trying to stiffen the rear I would remove the torsion bars and go with a coil over setup as its much MUCH easier for novices to set up, change, change again. Indexing torsion bars although technically not that difficult, practically speaking they are a TON of work. As they say "it aint hard work, its just nothin but work" The M030 968's have thicker/stiffer torsion bars as well as an add on "helper" coil spring setup on top of the shock. As interesting as this approach is its cheaper to go in other directions like the complete coil over and torsion bar removal. If your going to ultimately class race your 44 then also check your class about torsion bar removal as some dont allow it. Here is a link to some interesting info on these transaxle cars from the guys at Racers Edge. They are talking about a 968 but 99% of the conversion is good and applies to your 44. http://www.racersedge-inc.com/racers...0?open&id=10.1
