Default Price of a good jack?

I need a new jack as my Craftsman aluminum jack developed a leak after only eighteen months.

Are most jacks junk made in China and are thrown away every few years? Or does it make to sense to spend a lot more for maybe an AC Hydraulic at $400 or something from Snap-On? Will these expensive jacks last longer?

Lots of jacks are repairable. The hydraulic part is pretty dang simple. Tony P organized a 'group buy' a few years back for repalcement valves for some of the Craftsmen jacks.

Could just try taking back? All 3 of my HF jacks are lots older than that and all still work fine. For the price, I'd just buy another HF one and reset the clock

Get the AC. Have 4 in service at work with 0 failures in 5 years. Some mechanics figured out how to lose the pad a time or two but that is it. Well made solid tool. HF. Craftsman and Snap On all come off the same boat

AC's are nice http://www.acjacks.com/acjacks_003.htm

Though I'm too old for the 60lb - 80lbs and higher costs! For the $$$ I can get 2 or 3 of the HFs, have beer money left over and not have to go through the hernia operation.

If I had a pro shop I would in a heart beat, but still have the HF aluminum for the track.

If I had the $$$, I'd be an arrive and drove kind of guy!!!

Double check the warranty. Craftsman has a lifetime on many tools and shorter on others. You may be able to take it into the store and have it replaced even without a receipt. You can tell them it's less than a year old, if you have no issues with a little story.
