Default Can I wrap sub straps around this seat base?

I've just purchased a Sparco Ergo seat for my 996 street/track car. (I'm thinking about buying another for the passenger side, but that's another story.)

I currently have 6-point belts and factory GT3 seats. My sub belts are wrapped around a bar that attaches to the underside of the seat.

The Sparco seat does not have such a bar. However, I purchased a Sparco "seat base" that looks more-or-less like this:

I'm thinking I can wrap the sub belts around the rearward part of this base (the part in the upper right of this particular picture, opposite "sparco"). Does anyone see any issues with that? Or do I need to have eye bolts installed in the floor?

You can wrap it around whatever you want. But a proper way of installing a sub belt harness isn't straight to the seat bracket. That could kill you in a crash. Here are some visuals:

Interestingly, my Schroth was a little different. For the 5-point (single) sub anchor, it suggested mounting it a little in front of the cam lock (different from the pictures above), but for the 6-point (double) sub anchors, suggested a little behind the cam lock similar to the pictures above.

But I wouldn't mount it to that seat frame - looks like it might cut into the belt, and would likely be at the wrong angle. Mount it properly--your life could depend on it (or maybe just your manhood).

A little confused on the kill you part. All the sub belt does is help counteract the shoulder belts propensity to pull upon the lap belts. The sub is only there to keep the lap belts on the pelvic bone. It sees the least of the stress during an impact.

The hole in the seat tends to set the angle of attack to the torso most of the time anyway. My thought would be to be sure to use a mounting point that does not deflect when stressed and is legal for the group you are racing or driving with.

On a sports car, with an upright driving position, the sub belt is only there to keep the shoulder straps from pulling the buckle up too high.

The sub belt got its name in formula car racing, where the driver is much more laid down -- originally was called an "antisubmarine belt" to prevent the driver from sliding forward in the event of a front-end collision (which would happen with the 4-point belts).

Looking at the picture of the base it seems that part of the equation is missing. The Ergo seat will require that you use side mount brackets to attach it to this base. I know Sparco makes the brackets and I believe Brey-Krause also makes compatible ones. BK also have a couple of different sub-strap mounting brackets that bolt to the side brackets as an option as well.

I recommend a conversation with the guys at OG to figure the best possible combination for your particular car/seat/bracket combo. When I did mine there were a ton of variables to take into account.
