Default Engine 'Lift' get together - Sat 09/20/03

All right, lets make this official. The engine came out in mid Feb. during the blizzard of 2003, so what better way to commemorate its lift other than to put it back in during Hurricane Isabel!! There is still lots of little stuff to do prior to the engine going back in, but I'm pushing hard to get these done prior to Sat.

For those of you that are coming this Saturday the festivities will officially begin at 10:00am. I'll probably be up earlier tinkering, hopefully finishing up the last bit of prep work. So if anyone feels ambitious, come by earlier

The address is:

4205 N. 25th St.
Arlington VA 22207

If you are coming from the west (Mclean, Herndon, Leesburg, etc), this is probably the least confusing route:

- Take I-66 east towards DC to exit #72 (Spout Run/Lee Hwy) make a left at light onto Lee Hwy.

- Take Lee Hwy. to Military Rd. (~1 Mi.), Make right at light onto Military. *Landmark* Exxon station and another gas station on right corners.

- Take Military through Lorcom Lane (1st. light) (~.5 mi.). Go through intersection (Military and Lorcom) and make first left onto 25th street.

- Wind through confusing skinny neighborhood road. 4205 will be on the right (~.25 mi). White house, (911) Brown picket fence with a gold Camry in the driveway and a blue Tercel in front. The brass house numbers are on the fence pole closest to the driveway. The garage is behind the house, follow driveway back around house and knock

Phone numbers if you get lost:

7023-701-6061 (Pager)

Mother nature got me this time. Power out all last night and who knows when we'll get it back.

The engine will probably not be ready for installation tomorrow, but would be nice to have a few hands around to help lift it off the stand and place it on the MC jack. Of course, food and beer provided.

Who knows, maybe we'll get power back today and I can paly catch up all night.

Charlie, I can't make it a 10am Saturday, but I should be able to swing by later...maybe noon or a bit later. I'll watch here for your status/plans.

Charlie:

Power came back on here S. Joyce St., Arlington (Pentagon City) at noon today. Did you get yours back yet?

Asides from the tree branch that banged up my Porsche support vehicle, made it through the storm OK. Now, how much does a 1999 GMC k1500 Suburban left front fender go for nowadays....

Wonder if Wagonwerks (sp) will take the work without wanting to respray the entire truck

Let us know if you are still on for Saturday.

Jason

No power yet, hoping for it to come back on tonight. I'll still be there all day sat. working by daylight if folks still want to come by. I'll be working on misc. items, but most probably no 'lift' will occur. Still may need help getting eninge off stand and onto the lift. Clutch and tranny need to be mated at least. Still need to install the CIS pov and install the CIS, modify the sheet metal ducting so I can the pre-heat tubes fitted.

Sorry but I won't be able to make it - I've got both kids and will have my hands full of lego's, hotwheels and blocks

Hope the power comes back to you soon and let us know when the engine is ready to go back in. Hopefully I can make that party.

Charlie, We're still without power too. Been over 24 hours. Lots and lots of tree damage around here. And not a utility crew in sight. I'm guessing it will be days before we're back in business. I might need to take a hurricane check on the Saturday fun.
