Default GT3 envy

On the way home this evening, I dropped in behind a silver GT3 on 270. I was in my GTI and I felt so inadequate. What a beautiful car.

Could have been Dean Drewyer - Janet & I were over at Rockville Porsche looking at Audis while Dean was picking up his new GT3. He showed me his build sheet and the options list earlier in the year at VIR. Astounding! This is a street legal rocket ship! Best $100K you could spend.

Dean, BTW, is renowned for being ultra quick in his early 911 2.8L track car. Its just a matter of time before the GT3 is on the track [even though he says it will never happen].

I don't understand how one could NEVER take that car to the track. Is this the fellow with the silver GT3 at Summit on Sunday? I have an early, 2.8L track car . If it were my GT3 it'd be at the track soon after break-in...

I travel the I-270 between I-495 and Gaithersburg daily in a silver GT3 but it wasn't me last night. Since they were predicting big storms again for rush hour, yesterday I drove the Yukon so I could scale the large trees in the roadway on the way home.

Karl, that's the right idea. One GT3 for the track, another for the street!

Karl,
I was feeling good about being four seconds faster than last year's TT time, but your four seconds faster was more impressive. Nice 1:19 man - congrats!!

Thanks, Tony. Mike's keeping me humble, though. When I told him about my time he told me the car is capable of 1:17's at Summit

I'm going up this afternoon to pick up the trophy from him and to put the GT3 on his dyno and alignment machine. Just to check it out, this is not going to be a track car (I have to keep repeating that).

The #18 helps with the decision to not track the GT3.

Hmm...GT3 for the street and the #18 for the track... Ya know, you are starting to PI** me off!

Hey Tony, if it gets me any extra points, I ran a 1:24.5 in my 996 last year and the year before I ran a 1:27 something. So I did get a 3 second improvement year over year in the same car :P

I don't think I'll be able to shave another 4 seconds off my time in the Cup car. But I'll settle for a 1:18 flat.
