I've been very happy with the Toro personal pace rear drive I picked up a few years ago. Consumer reports rated it best fwiw the year I bought it. I would buy another.

I bought a Husqvarna with a Honda powerplant at Lowes last year. AWD/Mulcher/Bagger. Can't complain.

Something with a Briggs and Stratton or Honda power plant. I went Toro personal pace this spring to replace the Toro walk behind I had for last 14 years, but I only have 1/3rd acre or so to mow.

The machines used to cut the grass at my house were all made in El Salvador. No bagging, but no clumps, either.

To be honest, I don't think any residential mower will be able to mulch or bag HIGH & WET grass without leaving some trace. I just bought a Toto Personal Pace as well. Used it a few times to cut around landscaping the riding mower can't. So far I'm happy. Previous mower was a Honda that would not die regardless what was done (or not done) to it. It had the "X" type double mulching blades that I think mulch better than the new Toro. Left it with my old roommate. If I had the $$, I would buy another Honda.

FWIW, dull blades will definitely leave clumps. Before you abandon what you've got, make sure the underside of the mower is cleaned out well, and then buy yourself a new, sharp blade. Not too expensive, and if the difference is satisfactory performance, you can have the old blade properly sharpened, and then simply rotate the two.
