Hi All
I had great weekend until my car and I decided to take a short trip to the tire wall at turn 9. My apology for the blue run group for missing valuable track time. I want to thank all those who help me out in various ways after the incident, special thanks to Otto and Wenyu for staying until dark to help me tow the car back. As always huge thanks to PCA volunteers and organizers. I want to get your opinion about the car: I am not sure what to do with the martini inspired Blue Boxster #7. The passenger side door, quarter panel, rear and front bumper need replacement. Few right rear suspension parts need replacement. The hood does not open. The engine, clutch and Tran in excellent condition. Car is drivable, drove it back to the paddock. What have you done if you were in my situation? I don’t think there is hot market for drivetrain of these cars. (2000, 2.7 Boxster) Chamilka

Sorry to hear about this.
Others will be more knowledgeable on this than me, but . . . If the chassis and drivetrain are untarnished, and you like the car, I imagine the cost of fixing this will be less than the cost of replacing it. Did any of the airbags blow? I believe they are plenty expensive to replace. If this will be a dedicated track car, then perhaps you can save some $$$ getting door, body panels, etc. from wrecks.

Chamilka, the rear quarter is the only PITA there assuming no bend in the unibody. Front fenders and doors are up eBay regularly plus frequent part outs on 986forum. Suspension is easy - I even have some parts to throw in. I know you said you wanted to hang out and wrench a Boxster - I guess you assumed it would be mine! The Martini paint in the other hand... It Is a long winter!

Split from the main DE thread. It's a good question and worth not getting buried at the end of the DE thread.
Sorry to hear about the car, but glad you're OK.

Find out ballpark $ to fix and then decide. When I tweaked the targa a few years back EuroPros was willing to work with me on price if I did not want a full concourse repair and if I could wait a few months for them to work on it. Might also be worth asking ScottyB, as getting a car fixed back up is often less expensive once you get out of the Dc-metro area.

If you decide to part it out I think you could come out ahead and have a tidy sum for your next purchase. Sounds like this one is right down the middle: fix or sell?
Check your options.

Glad to hear you are ok.
As for the car, I agree with what Vice and Talon are saying. Take it to a shop to see about getting it useable for min cost instead of repairing to concours status. Bang the dents out with a hammer and get it back to running condition and then drive the snot out of it at the track. Parting it out is often more trouble than its worth and can be quite time consuming.

Sorry about your trouble. Glad to know that you are ok.
In this case selling as a parts car on the big auction site may yield a fair price as these cars are not worth much in good condition. Sometimes it's best to take the loss and move on. The fun is in searching for your next track toy!

Thanks all for the input, really appreciate it.
Yes I took it to my mechanic, in fact the car is in his location right now. He looked it over and told me those things needs to be fixed. We didn’t price it formally but he thinks I should not fix it unless I really wants this particular car. There are lot racing stuff in the car, new racing seat setup, Boxster Roll bar, GT3 lower control arms, new racing brakes, IMS, new clutch, stainless steel fuel lines etc. There is a guy in Alexandria parting his car I can get the door and quarter panel for $150.
