1968 2.0L 911 passing some american iron (was probably in a braking zone )

Found 12 rwhp on the chassis dyno before running #60 at Watkins Glen this past weekend. Not a huge improvement but, after tuning carbs noticed the midrange was a lot smoother and car would now run (come on cam and pull) below 5,000 rpm. Red line is 8,000 (electronically limited as they say...)

Have some more that I'll post later. Looking for more space than pelican offers in owner's gallery to upload pictures to. Many thanks to Doug E for snapping these shots. Will post group photo with a certain blue SC prominantly displayed in front / center soon.

Looks like a good time! I can host the rest of the pics on my itvl.com server if you want.

Eric:

Thanks for the offer. I'll resize the images to <100k in photoshop tonight or over the weekend. Any thoughts on which digital camera I should get? Looking for most megapixels and <$4oo. What kind do you use? I have a bunch of pictures to take of a wreck I bought so I can evil-bay them but, need to get a digital camera first (plus, really want the camera anyhow )

thanks!

Jason

Digital camera's are a difficult thing to buy because there are so many different options you can get, it really comes down to preference. All of the pictures that I have posted (except for the Dyno Day pics) were taken with my Casio Exclim 2.0mp camera ( http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_reviews/exs2.html). It is tiny (the size of a credit card, and about 1cm deep. It makes a really cool point and shoot camera.

After briefly looking at new 3.0mp cameras with a friend, it was a pretty tough call between the new 3.0mp Casio (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/ex-z3.html) and the Pentax Optio (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/optios.html).

In my opinion as far as 2.0mp camera's go, get the Casio Exclim, if you wanted something in the 3.0mp range the Pentax Optio would probably be my choice. In our area Ritz Camera has by far the best selection of quality digital camera's, and the site Steves Digicams (http://www.steves-digicams.com/) has great reviews, they should give you a beter idea of what is out there.

What kind of wreck did you buy? And what parts are you selling off of it?

Jason -

Glad you like the pics. For everyone else, Jason's cars look even better in person then they do on the screen!

Just for comparison in your shopping, my digital camera is a 2.2mp Kodak (model DX3500) and if I remember correctly was under $150. For still photo's and close-ups it is great. Action shots and zoom leave a lot to be desired.

For high quality photo's with lots of action (ie., the track shots I sent you) I still use my 35mm camera with zoom and then scan them in on my $20 scanner.

As a selling point to the wife, just remind her that she'll be able to use it too

It was actually over the internet from one of those places offering rock bottom prices. My brother took care of the transaction because he wanted one for himself as well. I'll ask him and post back the URL.

Eric: I purchased a wrecked 74 911 Targa that had been "made into" a track car and rolled a few years ago. I relieved a certain mechanic of the car after he was stiffed by the owner. Ted and a few others are interested in some of the go fast parts but, I haven't really cataloged, taken pictures, and valued the stuff yet. I disassembled the car at our shop in CT where I had the tools, assistance and room to keep it all. After gutting and stripping the car was crushed and disposed of.
Thus: my need for an open weekend to make the trip to CT, clean, inventory and return with parts I am going to get rid of. More than happy to let fellow Dorkiphus members have first crack at stuff when I finally get organized. The only caveat, I want to get close to what is FMV (fair market value) Whatever that might be.

Doug: Just got back from Best Buy and Sony P62, P72, and P92 seem to be the hot tickets. They had Kodak cameras there but some of the floor models had been trashed and gave a "bad impression." I am going to do some more research before I take the plunge. I agree with you about the 35 mm SLR stuff and the scanner. I have a high quality scanner which I used for several of the images I recently posted on my site Third of three Porsche pages. Even have a group shot with your 911 in there! I also recently discovered that I get 2meg per screen name for AOL and can creat the additional 6 names (for... 7x2 meg = 14 meg) for extra space. Think I'll be busy this weekend. What else to do with all this rain and a leaking Targa top seal
