I just heard that in the 48 car Spec Miata class (racing at Laguna Seca yesterday) the top SIX finishers were all disqualified in tech. What a cluster.
http://www.scca.com/news/index.cfm?cid=52091 In Spec Racer Ford, they had the closest 1-2 finish (0.065 sec.) since transponders have been used. It was a great back-and-forth battle. http://www.scca.com/news/index.cfm?cid=52087

Incredible when you read the thread. So many people have cheater motors some think they should change the rule to accomodate the cheaters ?

Maybe they need to institute a $30-40,000 "claiming" rule. Any SM can be bought and must be sold for $30,000 after the race. No doubt, there will be a LOT of discussion over the winter.

I know you race SRF Greg. Is there any way to cheat with a sealed motor ? Maybe that is the only answer.

Most of the cheating is done at the regional races where scrutineering is weak at best. In four years, the most scrutiny I've suffered is a ride height check (and I passed). I have avoided Majors scrutiny by finishing strategically mid-pack.

Well, let's be honest, when folks are spending $15-20K on an engine rebuilt to be competitive in a vehicle for which you can buy a $650 used engine is a tad suspucious, to put it mildly.
I think offerering folks $3K for -just- their engine is reasonable. I would consider racing SM then.

Would suck to work your way through a year and get DQed on something that all the builders are doing and openly as it was no considered a cheat.
