Default Track Time Anyone?

PCA Potomac has space in the Green and Blue run groups at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, home of the annual National SCCA Runoffs and one of the best tracks in the country.

Tempted?
More info below. Registration is at the Potomac web site. This is an experience too good to miss

Tech Inspection, SUNDAY, April 27:
Please, do remember this is a Porsche only event, and all Porsche must be tech’d with the Potomac tech sheet: http://www.pcapotomac.org/pca/html/d...acTechForm.pdf Grid tech is performed at the track by our tech team for all non-instructors. Instructors will perform grid tech on each others car. See the tech form for details.

Our good friends at Intersport in Tysons Corner VA will host the tech inspection for Mid Ohio. If you have never been to Intersport you owe it to yourself to come and see this shop. Charley and Omar run a busy, high-energy shop and you never know what kind of car you will see next. Intersport, 1524 Spring Hill Rd, Tysons Corner. (703) 242-8680.

In deference to the Hershey Swap meet, this Tech Session will be on SUNDAY, April 27, 9:00AM to 2:00PM. Chief of Tech, ‘Hollywood’ Mickelwaite, contacted the organizers at Hershey about moving the swap meet, but for some reason they were adamant.

New Medical Information:
Many tracks, and good operational practice, dictate that some information is on file ‘just in case’. Just like when we went to summer camp. To facilitate this we have recently (this evening) completed the Medical Information section of our secure online registration system. Please help us to help you save time at the track. Do this by completing the information online. For those who wish to decline you may so indicate. http://pcapotomac.us/

The medical information and the emergency contact information are kept by our Track Registrar only for presentation to medical personnel if necessary. No personal information is ever released nor for that matter generally available in our database. Access is strictly controlled with ‘need to know’ limitations.

Still Need Reservations?
The Comfort Inn-Bellville and Ramada Limited-Bellville are the Preferred Hotels of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and The Founders Region, Potomac. For reservations and information, call the Comfort Inn-Bellville at (419) 886-4000 or the Ramada Inn-Bellville at (419) 886-7000. http://www.midohio.com/sportscarcour...mmodations.asp

Track Registration:
Friday we have the front gate opening a bit early, 6:30AM, to facilitate all the ‘stuff’ to do. Grid Tech will be behind the center garages next to the fence. Track Registrar Anne Marie Trew and company will be setup in garage 7 as always. Get your ‘stuff’ done and then have some coffee. (Note that this year there will only be coffee and hot chocolate; fill up on the excellent free breakfast at the Ramada or Comfort Inn before coming to the track). The Chief Instructor will issue instructors lunch coupons at the Instructor Briefing each AM.

How to Get There:
First, find Ohio. Then follow these directions: http://www.midohio.com/sportscarcour...directions.asp

Those of us from the east coast find that the fastest route is I-70 to Breezwood then up the Turnpike (I76) past Pittsburg and then west by Akron and down. I know, it looks longer. Trust us. If driving a Porsche then I-68 to Morgantown WVA then up I-79 to I-70 then west. Very pretty, but 68 and 79 are too hilly for towing unless you have a SERIOUS Porsche Support Vehicle.

Should you REALLY want to make a tour, try the Lincoln Highway. http://www.lincolnhighwayassoc.org/ Overnight along the way. Perfect Porsche driving. Goes smack through Mansfield Ohio!

You will enter the track at Gate 3. See the track map here: http://www.midohio.com/sportscarcour...k/trackmap.asp

Track Walk Friday Evening:
This is a track that will surprise you! Refreshments and guided track walk hosted by Frogs Breath Racing! Everyone invited. If you want to study up between now and then: http://www.midohio.com/sportscarcourse/track/video.asp

Tony, you should work your "inner voice" magic on Jim Richards just like you did it to me! Jim really had fun at the HPDC with his (er, his wife's) 73E. Don't you think he'd enjoy Mid-Ohio?

:P

Guys, guys, no fair double teaming me! I really have to pass on Mid-Ohio, as much as I'd like to go to that storied track. I've been burning the candle on both ends, as well as in the middle, for a few months now and I really need to slow down.

BTW - I did register for the Watkins Glen DE a few days ago, but I'm not sure if I'll get in. Keeping my fingers crossed.
