OK, this sucks. I started my new Porsche owner maintenence last weekend and was doing pretty good until I discovered the PO let some ham fisted tire store worker use his impact wrench on the wheel lugs. I got them all of without breaking... except one.
Long story short, the wheel is off, the stud was mangled in the process. New stud and lug nut on order from Pelican. I need to replace the stud - anyone done this before? I'd like to know what I'm in for. Thanks! P.S. There free beer in it for anyone who wants to help. The goal is to get the car back on the road for the 3/29 fun run.

Check Pelican,
I know there's some how to info on how to on the 911 Tech BBS site. I looked into it considering adding some spacers to the rear wheels (requires longer studs). From what I recall, you remove the spreader on the parking brake. This gives you a gap to pound the old stud out through. For installing the new one you insert the new stud in the hole, add a bunch of washers and tighten the lug down to pull the stud into place. Good luck, Gordo |
