Default Nods from the VW folks?

I know the relationship between VW and Porsche however its seems the guys in the GTI's always shoot me a "Nod" in passing. I find this funny when most Porsche guys don't even look twice (mostly newer models)!

I wonder if those GTI's nods are a German thing or the relationship between the two manufactures? You guys get this to?

Saw where VW and Porsche are working together to build a smaller Boxster. 4 cly, turbo, 300hp, ~$40K... Sounds like fun!

I wave to all Porsches and it's usually the older cars who don't return the gesture to me.

Well, if you drove a Porsch-a I agree that GTI guys are generally car guys. I also think that, generally newer p-cars are considered posuer cars. I'm not saying they are but I still remember in the 80s, guys buying 911s as long as someone would teach them how to drive a stick.

(FWIW, I drool over TTs and GT3s)

They aren't nodding in acknowledgment. They're nodding thinking: "Oh yeah! We own you!"

I've exchanged waves with drivers in older vw's. I think it is a mutual understanding of the pain involved in keeping these old cars on the road.

Probably because GTI drivers want to own a Porsche someday...I know when I drive my Audi I want to wave at the older Porsches too, but feel it may seem odd, as they can't see the tiny PCA sticker in my back window.

However, I have waved at many a Boxster in my 356 and only had less than 5 wave back.
