Default Cost to "flip" tires on rims these days

So.. I've realized I will want to have my tires flipped on their rims to maximize their short lives. So it would involve a dismount of tire and remounting of tire and balancing. Anyone have a price range one would expect to pay for such a service? (assuming wheels are brought loose to the shop)

$20/tire? $40 tire? If it matters, and I think it may, they are 50-series tires on 15" rims. (I've lost the receipt for when the tires were originally mounted )

Buy your tires from Radial Tire. Send your SO with the tires to drop off and pick up the next day (of course, from South Riding, VA, you might want to just wait). Cost: $0. But please leave a $30-40 tip in their tip box (for 4 tires this is a real bargain).

Alternative: Find a dorki who has tire mounting and balancing equipment. Suck up big time. Suck up some more, maybe offer to babysit. Remember this person is not getting an hourly salary to do this, so leave a significantly larger tip (I haven't tried this yet as Radial Tire is just as close for me).

Dave, here's the secret for the true junkies among us:

1. Buy your tires from Radial Tire in Silver Spring
2. Whever you need them flipped and balanced, take the wheels back to RT and they will do it for "Free"
3. "Free" means no invoice, but a nice $20+ in the tip box is the way to do it.

As others have said, most shops will charge you their current rate per tire for a mount and balance, which is around $100 for four tires on average.

Tony,
Great minds think alike, and at the exact same time, too!

I leave (actually, my WIFE leaves) at $35 tip for 4 tires.

BTW, for those of you going to the Glen, where my wife will join us for the first time, feel free to mention how jealous you are that I have a wife who will do these things. If you're in a jealous-mentioning mood, you might also want to mention to Linda (DR's wife) that you're jealous of DR, too, as she is also 1-in-a-million.

Great reason to buy from Radial.. Really wish there was something like them on this side of the world.

Dave, I try to bring them to RT but living out here i just bite the bullet sometimes and pay the man. It runs about $25 a tire .

RT won't work this time around.. Plus the 2hr round trip, plus wait time is less than convenient (heck, that's about $8-9 in gas plus potential greenway tolls already! )

Just wondering what others pay for the work since not everyone gets tires at Radial, do they?
