Default New guy removing A/C

Hi, I have owned a 78 SC coupe for 2 years now and have not done much to the car. I have decided to learn to maintain this car. First on the agenda is to free up some breathing room in the engine compartment. Is there a manual or cd that shows step by step how to remove all of the air conditioning components properly from a 911?

Flyboy,
I removed mine from a 79SC. It was quite a job but straight forward. I would cut the hoses in the engine compartment and pull them out from below. Remove all the clips holding the hoses, the dryer in the right wheel well, the condensers under the front of the car and from the engine deck lid. Then move to the smugglers box and take out the fan and evaporator. It will come out, I promise. Remove the compressor and as many brackets as you can get to. The long one should wait until you pull the engine, something you will do soon, again, I promise.

When you get to removing the evap box from the smugglers box, you will need to remove the rt florboard, and blower resistor first. When I removed mine, I left the front fan and fan controls in theh car. It is a great sorce of fresh moving air. Just gut the evap box, re assemble it, enpty it, and reinstall it.
