Thumbs up Yowzer !!

Walking out of Harris Teater and the rumbling of vehicle approaching on the left. I look up expecting to see a pimped Hummer. Damned if is wasn't a black-on-black Audi R8.

The pix on the web site don't do it justice.

I said the same thing - the pictures simply don't convey the powerful sex appeal of that machine. I want one.

There was one down at Daytona at the December Audi DE event. It moved pretty quickly around the track.

I ran out during my lunch break to pick up parts I ordered at Porsche Tysons on Tuesday 8 January. There was white/black R8 parked in the middle of the entrance to the service area and I think several of the staff were getting a kick out of my mezmerized stare as I walked around this beauty several times. The car was noticably dirty and I figured this was a good thing - being used as driver and not a garage queen.

The word SUPER CAR is almost not enough to describe it.

FYI the one they sell is a 4.2L V8 gas motor, only diesel is the show car concept...they still aren't even sure they're going to make the V12 turbo diesel version.

I saw one of those driving down the road in LA a couple of weeks ago, and I'm going to have to dissent from what everyone's saying here -- I think it's butt-ass ugly. The rear end is nice, but the front looks like a cross between an electric razor and a Star Wars spaceship. Worst of all, the front and the rear of the car don't complement eachother; they look like the ends of two different cars.

It also looks to me that the entire rear 2/3rds of the car is a plagiarism of the Nissan 350Z. The rear bumper sculpting and excessive use of louvers on the Audi is different, as is the air scoop on the door, but otherwise the lines are identical.

And as I alluded to above, the front looks like a futuristic deformed insect cyborg.

I thought the diesel thing was almost assured. It would be great to have a real diesel sports car option. Well, even if it is an oxymoron.
