Default New Street Tires

I decided that since I'm running my car so much on the street and so little on the track I would purchase a set of street tires rather than wearing out more RA1s. The new ones are not so wide, not so low profile, smaller diameter (15" rather than 16") but with the same overall outside diameter as the RA1s for less than half the price. And they have the nice effect of softening the bumps. I can even use them as rain tires on the track. Something to think about for all of you who are running around town with track suspensions and expensive racing tires.

I found that my 16" Toyo T1R's were almost 1/2" smaller in circumference vs. my 17" RA1's. I had the car lowered and it's actually causing problems getting into my driveway, speed bumps etc. The odd part is that the tire sizes are exactly what the manual calls for and when you do the math the 16" overall diameter is smaller :XX My speedo is off and I even scraped the brake ducts on the highway in a construction area on the way home form WG. Like the tires but I may have to sell the wheels and tires and get 17's.

Cliff:

I went with Yoko ES100s 215/60/15 X4 a while back and it gave my '76 a very cushy ride on the street [big slip angles ]. Even after upgrading to ER poly and 21F / 26R TBs the ride is nice and compliant for the crappy NOVA roads that I am sure we both frequent.
