Which data logger are you using? If Racepak, maybe we can exchange some files for comparison.

I'm using a G2X that I got from OG racing - very good deal because I maintain a blog linked to them (big discount, and even bigger for the G2X, one-time deal). For some reason, my software often doesn't recognize the track maps I got from Tom T, and I have to build my own (which might not map to those of other Dorkis). Is there a way, when you open a data file, to search for a track map when the only choice is "---NEW---"?

Great, I got the same deal from OG as well, so we can share files

Yes there is a way for that Peter, if you saved the map from before.

Run Log Menu (which is really a tab at the bottom ), select Create GPS Track Map. On the next screen, "STEP 1" button should be "SELECT/CREATE GPS MAP", select that. The next window that opens there should be a button on the middle right-hand for "Open Different Lap File." Click on that one and it will take you to all the lap files you saved from before, including segments created and so forth. That way you can compare you run logs based on the same lap file with the same segment points on the map.

I hope this helps. Btw, RacePak support is truly awesome. If you call them up, they can remote into your computer and show you live on the screen how to do various tasks with the Datalink software.

That works, but the VIR 2008 file I got does not have segments. Is there a standard file out there with segments. You can email it to pnk at alum. MITdotEDU (please note the funny spacing to throw off bots).

If only my engineering professors only had that much of a sense of humor in college! I will definitely be back out at some point. I put 311 track miles on Mike's car.
As usual I am several days late and few $$$ short. You did a great job. Look forward to seeing you continue with another expensive hobby. Save the street tires for Mike next time. That is about his speed

Thanks to all for a well run event. Although I still find not driving much this year still shows in my inconsistent driving, I think I am starting to get more comfortable. The car seems fine after changing the broken motor mounts. I did not put as many miles on as others because I corded a tire on Friday due to understeer into left hook and not wanting to use the tires I was saving for October. However, I flipped the tire and got a few more sessions, some working on trying to get more speed through hog pen and T2-3-4.

Nader,
It was fun practicing NACSCAR pit-stop style tire changes with you!
