Ditto.

John: The LH has a 3.2L carbed and is a '70 S chassis. Would run with our IROC [3.4L, but with slicks] in Historic Production Cars 1967-1974 class 3I for 3-3.4L cars. It would get run over basically b/c 275whp X 1.15 = ~316 crank hp. Most in that class are running 3.4L and generating 350+ HP.

However, it could run in a sub-class on semi-treaded tires [they are divided between spec Hoosier TDs or slicks]. I'd buy it, sell the 3.2, build a hot 2.9L and run it in the 2.5 - 2.9L 3J class, just like the 2.8L I am running. Relatively fewer $$$ than the 3.0 - 3.4L class.

Remember, the beauty of a '74 and earlier car is that it can run in PCA club racing, PBOC, NASA with the modern cars AND also run in HSR, Brian Redman events, HMSA, VARA, and SVRA events.

Or ... just DE.

Basic question, can I run my SC as a retro ’74 If I use the 2.4/2.7 cases? I might have some early “paperwork” laying around

IF safety is you primary concern then a later car might be something to look at. The early cars, caged and tube framed or not, don't fare as well as late 911s in impacts. Less car = less energy absorption. Late car with cage much safer than early car with cage.

With that said an early light weight car is what I plan to build someday. Sometimes I think the wife would rather the insurance $ anyway.

If you plan to race chose a prepped car carefully. The rules are not always lineal and a series like HSR has some heavy spending folks in it.
