Thumbs up

Sounds like a GREAT deal and a Great find. Now, make plans for the Mid-Atlantic Mid-Engined Ramble on 9/12 (almost 9/14) in New Market.

the front trunk floor needs to have the AC removed and patched. The suspension box underneath teh battery tray needs replaced and i am putting in new jack points. I have allocated about 2k to get it up and going. Car has 33k original miles. I figured what i put in i can probably get out.

is that a rear defroster button next to the cigarette lighter? If so, that's a fairly rare option. Love white 914's.

Yup.. Green knob is for rear defrost. My '76 has it too. I wish you luck on your project. Jack ports and rear suspension ARE 2 of the major issues with 914s. How did it do on the "open door / sag test"? Is the car still Fuel Injected? Would be a quite a catch to find a low mile example after all these years. I would have guessed 133K miles since its only a 5 digit odometer.

More importantly, lets see it out at some Autocrosses!

The defroster works as well, tried that out this morning. The rear window was resealed recently too. The car comes w/webers(2bbl) but i plan on replacing those down the road when i build the bigger engine. I will tune it as is but this winter i am goign to get her up to about 120hp. 33k original miles, have service tickets and the title tells the truth. Hasnt really been run for the last 8 years, just a project. No AXs for the 914, 944 is already set up for that. The '14 will be for cruising.

"The suspension box underneath the battery tray needs replaced "... so it's a 914 after all...hopefully it does not continue further forward and up. Its kinda like the shin bone is connected to the thigh bone, the thigh bone is connected to the hip bone... The 914 has zero metal protection on the inside of the body cavities...no primer, no galvanized coating no rust proofing...just bare ass metal... they rust from the inside out in the suspsion console area.

If you don't already know, that is a significant job. Have you a shop to do the work yet or are you going at it yourself? post pictures of the areas needing replacement...some of us might be able to give soime guidance if required. whatever it take you will enjoy the effort once finished.

The guy that did all of the body work on my 1957 tr3 is tackling it... when i showed it to him his exact quote was "looks like a torque box on a mustang". Very savvy guy, he gets started on it next week. Mechanicals i am not afraid of... body work is for pros.
