I threw in the towel. Can anyone recommend a shop to get the pedal cluster rebuilt? I don’t have a proper bench/vise grip which is required for the job.

Matt De Maria (Stuttgart Performance Engineering). I believe he's now in the Air Park - are you still local? (that is, where exactly are "greener pastures?")

EDIT: or Kurt! (see post below)

Mechanical only with your bushings $200 includes gas pedal bell crank reinforcement. Cleaned and painted $300. Mechanical can be while you wait or shipped + shipping back Painted up, chuck it all in a box and get it back in a week.

Assembly is not intuitive. Recommend you work from pictures of the cluster taken before. Keep track of where bushings are and how springs go.

This is a paint and parts only rebuild. The non painted parts like the shafts and springs can also be zinc coated and buffed up a bit. I paint the springs if not going to be zinc coated. Butter up the bushings and a bit more in the tubes they go into. Slide things together and wipe up any excess. Cleaner assembly and plenty of lube for years to come.

Will take some pictures of the bell crank fix when I get to it.

Thanks Kurt, I will attempt to remove the cluster after work. I will send you a PM, I would prefer it all cleaned and painted. I appreciate the offer!

To remove you undo the clutch cable on the center side. It has a nice flip up and off pin. The throttle rod pops off the bell crank with the open end of a 10mm wrench. Then a ratchet and socket to the two 13 mm nuts in the front of the cluster and a open end wrench the two 13mm under the car that also hold the MC.
Some have a brake light switch mounted to the cluster frame some don’t.

The bell crank next to the throttle pedal can bend when the setup is not adjusted just so and or the plywood falls apart. The brazed joint between the pivot and stamping fails, things get floppy and can get stuck in the WOT position.
I add a bit of steel rod to improve the joint and stamping. In this case the part was cleaned and re-plated.

Some updates:
Per Kurt, two posts above

Get the car in the air, and remove the belly pan covering the steering rack.
Once the pan has been removed, you will see the two 13mm nuts holding the MC to the bottom of the car and pedal cluster.

Finally got the pedal cluster out, I learned that you have to disconnect the bolt connected to the Master Cylinder first and remove the retaining pin holding the brake pushrod in place BEFORE jacking the car up and removing the bolts under the car by the steering rack. Freeing up the brake pushrod was probably the biggest PITA for the pedal cluster removal. The rest of the job involved removing the clip holding the clutch cable in the center tunnel, then using a hammer and a punch to knock the clutch cable pin out.
When it was all said and done, I vacuumed the rust and debris, hit the area with Brakekleen, and then painted it.
