Looking for recommendations for an independent shop with a strong Honda focus to bring the wife's 2001 Honda Civic back to life. It's been sitting for 3 or so years now due to a recurring 'go into limp mode' issue, and now needs overall catch up maintenance as well.

We are in Alexandria, so ideally some place on the south/ west of the beltway.

This shop is in MD, not VA, but they specialize in Japanese cars. Far East Motors (https://www.fareastmotors.com/). We've known one of the owners for years (our kids were in scouts together), and we've taken a lot of our cars there over the years. Good, fast service and not too expensive.

I know a guy, but not in your area. Before you ship it off check the engine grounds. Sounds simple but I've seen more than my share of issues, my accord actually.

I reached out to the guy you know a couple times last Fall. I am definitely still open to it if he isn't totally stacked up.

When the limp mode first started I replaced the throttle body elbow, which included the sensor, based on some Honda forums. Car ran fine for a couple moths after that and then it didn't. And it was a PITA stranding. Not sure if the new sensor possibly got fouled, or if it was just a coincidence it ran fine for a while.
