bj's still has some, ~$3/lb

it was worse earlier this season, seems to be letting up a little

Yikes, lucky we have some 3" tabs from last year.

A good way to shock the pool after a pool party is to get the cheap/strong liquid bleach from dollar tree etc.

bjs has that too, ~$16/4 gal., 12.5% I think. Not saying its the best price around but its easy.

Non chlorine based shock is my go to. You can break the combined Cl back into free active Cl without driving the ppm to unsafe Cl levels. liquid bleach has a lot of inactive dissolved solids. TDS and combined Cl is where you get the bleach smell and eye irritation. You can have 12 ppm free active CL and no smell or eye sting but 3 PPM combined smells like the laundry room. If you do a lot of backwashing or waste you can keep the TDS down no matter the chemicals going in.

25lbs delivered from Walmart for 179.00. I think I usually get 40 or 50lbs from Costco for 70.00. That will get me through the season if it does show up.
