I find the Beretta PX4 to be quite comfortable to shoot. The full size and the compact have rotating barrels that make them reliably accurate.

Here's a good read: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2...the-px4-storm/

Silver Eagle is awesome. I've taken a number of pistol/rifle defensive shooting classes there. The last one was hand to hand with concealed carry tactics that left me literally bruised and bloody. Eye opening to say the least.

Lots of sound advice here. I have the 226 Compact - nice overall. I like revolvers a bit more, but have plenty of both. Revolvers for the win!

For strict paper punching, I support .22, and 9mm is good. If you choose to reload, it opens up many calibers, but that is a different rabbit hole.

Hey, revolvers are cool. Just like the penny farthing I have is cool too.

Just kidding. Revolvers are the go to if you want a machine that does what you want it to do when you want no questions asked no fumbles. Click, no boom? Gun stays on target while you keep pulling until it goes boom. Pistol, click no boom? Please refer to to the list of corrective actions specific to the weapon in hand.
