Default WTB, 996 Carrera aftermarket exhaust

Before I go having something made or splurging on new parts, wondering if anyone has any aftermarket 996 exhaust parts theyíre looking to offload? The car is just too quiet for my taste!

Iím located in Baltimore but willing to drive to pick up!

Try the Gundo Hack on your factory exhaust. Basically welding a bypass pipe from the muffler to the muffler outlet pipe allowing some of the exhaust to bypass the muffler. Local muffler shop can probably do for less than $200. Sounds pretty close to factory sport exhaust.

Good luck!

Iíve definitely considered it, but itís not really reversible if I decide to go back to stock and let the car go. I may still go that route

I did that mod to my 993 mufflers long ago. It's great cheap thrills and if you really don't like it there's someone online who will swap their stock for your modified mufflers.

I had a local shop do this on my car, and it was perfect for me. I took the mufflers out myself, and brought them to the shop. They charged me $100, and I put them back in. Unfortunately, that shop recently closed down.

I have some DIY muffler delete pipes you can have/borrow if you'd like to try it out.

Miles of smiles, especially at WOT.

You could also block off the resonator in the airbox. That mod is good for a couple rumbles. You can get the cap for free by requesting a sample from http://www.niagaraplastics.com/

The part number is 273-1P

There is a complete discussion of this mod at:

Thanks! The car already has a fabspeed carbon intake installed by the former owner, so the intake stuff is taken care of (it sounds amazing at high revs)

I think I may just go with the gundo/fister hack for now, and see where that gets me!
