The 7s will fit but the 6s won't clear the calipers. Plus you wouldn't be able to put enough tire on them for track use.

For track use you really need at least 7s, and 8s at a bare minimum.

I believe the 944 8's have a different offset than the 911 8's. Perhaps Trak Ratt can weigh in on this since he's the one who told me...

Yes, 8x16” Fuchs with 944 in the parts number have the same offset as 7” Fuchs. Used to run them on the SC. But this thread is about 911 Fuchs

Still off topic:
951 7 have the same Offset as 911 7's (23.3mm). The difference is the hub mating area is different. Viewed up close, you would notice the lug holes are more recessed in the 951 wheels. It makes the 951 7/8 wheels "look" like the 911 6/7 wheels when viewing the "dish" of the wheel. The 951 wheels are built to clear the 951 Turbo calipers. The 911 wheels would require a spacer to fit over the calipers. Stock 951 ran a 205 and 225 tire combo, the same as a 911 SC/Carrera did, but as the OP mentioned, a track car would enjoy much more rubber. And as the Dr mentions, the 951 8's ALSO has a 23.3m offset (which is why folks run those on the front of a 911), whereas the 911 8s have an offset of 10.5mm
