Default Confirming death of Toy Sienna transmission

Our 313K mile 2004 Toyota Sienna loses all power to the wheels once its warmed up. I was going to get it towed to Four County Imports yesterday, but his message was there's really no use because it will need a new transmission. And that means its finally the end of ownership for me.

I had it towed to my house. The fluid dipstick reads full.

Just double checking here - is there anything I should consider that may keep it alive before I get rid of it?

How much is a new replacement Toyota Trans? How much for one from a Junkyard? Do you need to keep it or is it really just a convenient way to say "goodbye"...

Fluid level is not always a sign of death.. its wear on the inside of course that matters.

We have a 2003 Tacoma with about 580,000 miles. Had the transmission replaced around 500K. Susan continued to use it daily until we discovered some frame rot issues around 550K. It is now a farm beater, but running strong.

If you want to get a replacement, get a replacement. If it serves your needs, a replacement tranny is cheaper than a replacement vehicle.

I don't see replacing the transmission as an option for us. There are other things that don't work great. The driver's door is the only door that even opens well. It came up 3 college move ins/outs short of what we wanted to get out of it.

Looks like the FR-S will have to do for now.

sounds like you answered your question

with that many miles not many are willing to stand behind any work on the existing trans, unfortunately. Clutch plates only last so long, new fluid!?! You can check the solenoids or try new fluid. Or new converter, cooler/flush, and trans... ~3k+ in parts.
