Default WTB: Sporty daily driver

So we are considering turning in our Land Cruiser for a more fuel efficient family capable vehicle. Anyone have or know of someone who has a sporty vehicle that can hold 4, transport an occasional dog, and is fun to drive that is available for sale? Caravans and the like are right out.

Leaning towards BMW 5 series, an Audi, Cayenne, or Macan but I'm open towards anything that is suitably fun and priced right.

Anything else I should put on the short list?

Thanks!

I'm a big fan of Volvo's for long trips. Sedans, wagons, or SUV's. The seats are divine and they generally have good cargo capacity. They can tow up to 4000 lbs too.

lol. That post was gonna come in a while.. but since you asked...

It's a 2004 Land Cruiser. Burgundy with tan interior. It's been an absolute rock star of a performer. We love and use it continuously so it has its typical wear spots on the interior and has taken out a few deer over it's 220K miles. The repairs have been done at Quattro so it looks fantastic. The transmission is flushed and the oil changed on a regular basis to keep up with the mileage and the towing. It has the full tow package with a 7500 pound limit and an electric brake controller. The only issues I know of is an underperforming AC and a slightly loud exhaust noise the first few minutes of starting but goes away when everything heats up and expands. My wife thinks we should keep it for the dogs and hilltopping on occasion, but I think she'll change her mind after we get the replacement daily driver.

Guess the real question falls on the "sporty" vs "practical" side of the equation. Sounds like you'd want/need another SUV or wagon for family/dog hauling, vs say, just a fun little GTI/Golf R.. and fuel efficiency is all relative.. 12-15 for a LC vs 18-20 for an XXX?

yeah, no... Not for the wife. I tend to buy the super sports three years out when they hit that 30% value of original MSP mark. Beautiful car though, just not for the DD budget.

Considered a WRX? Step down in luxury but a blast to drive, reliable, roomy. Ben loves his (and so do I).
