Default Seeking opinions on lift points for 944

Anyone here have opinions (preferably based on experience) about front lift points for a 944?

Online I have seen different views on whether it is safe to use the points behind the front wheels indicated by the red arrow (the pic shows drivers side):

I have a Nussbaum 9,000 lb two-post lift. The forward arms reach the lift points on the frame (yellow arrow in the pic), but with little room to spare. Hard to explain, but I need to have the forward arms extending straight toward the middle of the lift (perpendicular to long axis of the car) to get to the frame. This has the car positioned farther aft on the lift than I would like. Though I feel it is safe. I used to put my rear-engine 996 on the lift, so it can handle the center of gravity being a bit off.

That being said, if the lift points behind the wheels are safe to use, I would much prefer to use those points.

This pic is from the Pelican Parts web site, and they say both points are safe. However, I have seen others state that the points indicated by the red arrow should never be used. Sure looks like lifting is what they are intended for.

I recall reading somewhere that the RED points were used by the factory to move the chassis on the assembly line. I've used the YELLOW points on my 944s without any problem.

I have used the round ones for my lift all the time. I don't think I have created any problems.

The round ones (red) could result in slight bend in the floorboard above. That said, I agree with others, both can be used but the yellows are better. Second reason folks likely use the red/round points is that their jack cups around them making it feel sturdier.

I always used the yellow, but I'm sure shops have used the red. Although it looks like TAG uses the yellow.

Round is the Factory recommended lift point. Yellow frame rail works but interferes with access. Funny that in the above picture that the frame rail looks dented up.

Just don't use the pans.....

I have always used the round (red) ones. In fact that is what I use to store the car when it is on the lift. But I am no expert.

ive had the red ones bend and kink the floor of my racecar. Also the dent that was on the bottom of one of the front fenders when we had it was most likely put there by using that point and not using a block of wood or adjusting the pads. We typically use the yellow

Yep, always use the frame (yellow) in the front and will usually move back 2 or 3 more inches so the metal under trays on the turbos come off without hitting any of the arms. That area is boxed metal instead of flat metal and much more resistant to bending as mentioned. The flat spot on the bottom of the aluminium torsion tube ends make a nice spot for the rear.

I've jacked the front end of my car numerous times on the red donut without issue, but always support (for doing work underneath) w/ a jack stand under the frame rail (2x4 between the stand and rail).
