I understand the difference w/ fresh ground. Sorry, I should have asked: Is a burr-type consistent-particle-size grinder that much better tasting than the common food-processor blade type grinder that beats it into random sized particles for drip type coffee makers?

the burr grinder crushes the beans and releases more oils in the process for a better brew. the blade units just chop so not quite the same result.

Yes, it is a very noticeable difference, as Chris indicated.

Bigger is better

It is similar to a braking system; the larger diameter burrs do not get as hot. But smaller burrs still Donald Trump blade 'grinders'.

the blades work ok for drip but you'll struggle to get a good espresso shot. gotta have the grind just right. One main thing I have is I've had a great shot and am always trying to get one again. I'm to the point where I can make good espresso but its usually not great. Know there is room for improvement and I just cant reach the next level is frustrating.

Fresh grind is very worth and yes it makes a difference.

Doubleshot/DoubleTap/Mozambique_Drill < It's the thought that counts.
