Printing it assembled is doable, but with the required support structure, it'll be a pain to clean it up. I haven't had a chance to get smart on optimizing settings for that, so it could be a pain.

I've been planning on relying on the flexibility of the PLA to allow me to assemble the u-joints without breaking - we'll see. Maybe I'll do a test print of just the u-joint to see how assembly goes.

Another option I have is to replace the u-joints with flexi filament for a flexible joint. The printer will allow me to use different materials with a single print, I just haven't tried it yet.

The third option, is waiting on the upgrade kit I have on order that allows for printing in 4 different materials in a single print. This will allow using dedicated filament as support material that can be dissolved away, minimizing cleanup of prints. It'll probably be a while before the upgrade finally ships, and even longer for me to figure out how to use it properly.

I've tried a few test prints of the u-joint, and its kicking my butt. Lots of tweaking required - stay tuned.
