Thanks

Made some more progress:

Closed the ugly holes from the rear bumper brackets

Cut out some rust, and made a new piece for the headlight bucket.

Made new custom brackets for the 996 power seats.

Test fitting the seat.

Welding it together.

I had to cut out the front center piece where the normal seat would attach and adjust.

At the rear side it goes in to the existing slide channels and is just tight up with a block. The whole thing is all bolt in, and the seats will bolt in with their original brackets.

Bead blasted and Powder coated the whole thing. Ready to go.

Cheers
Engelbert

Started the PITA work on the VW.

Hand sanding all panels. The fenders are done, the rear side panels are done. Next the front and the Frunk and deck lid.

Cheers

That looks so familiar! Thanks for hosting our visit last weekend, Engelbert. Bill Miller and I had a great time seeing your shop (and meeting you, your wife, and your cat).

Yes, It was nice to meet you and Bill in person as well.

In the meantime I made some progress on the Beetle. I stopped by at the paint shop to see what's going on.

I picked it up during this week, and now I have to get in gear and start assemble it.

Cheers

Started to sort out the wiring on the Cabrio.

The Beetle got some wings. Rear fenders are on.

Front fenders are on.

Front bumper is in place

Under the wing.

Rear Bumper is also on. I made some custom brackets, so the bumper shocks are gone and the smaller bumpers are now on the car.

Got the drive shafts ready for installation.

Drive shafts installed.

Front brake calipers installed.

So I took the engine out of the corner.

All the cooling tins getting removed.

Here it is, need to clean it up. The engine was rebuild back than, and it's a 1835cc.

All these pieces will be blasted and powder coated.

Cheers
Engelbert

The Super Beetle 1303 has a dash with only one gauge, and there is no room for a Tach, and some other gauges. So I customized it a bit.

I cut this piece out.

Making some templates

Fitting the dash plate

Here with the gauges in. The idea was to keep the Speedometer with the gas gauge, and all the warning lights.

Template for the surround.

I used sheet metal.

Had to make it from severel pieces.

Welded all together

Cleaned and blasted, ready for some filler.

Done and ready for some Vinyl.

Installed with the rest of the dash

Sorting out the wiring.

Made some wiring harness for the additional gauges.

Ready to install the gauges.

All gauges installed now.

All gauges got LED's for illumination.

Cheers
Engelbert

I had a 73 Super Beetle with the same dash. What you just did was something I dreamed of many, many times. I was always envious of guys with regular flat-dash Beetles because they could buy a $20 plate and get a dash full of gauges. Awesome work as usual.
