A money system with a nice _+1db response from 20Hz to 18Khz still sounds great to all those 12Khz ears.

Sadly me too! Course we’ll have plenty of company by this time next year .

ok, so i've been lucky enough to get to 'test drive' the monster.

...and a monster it is. approx 60-70lbs, its size alone dwarfs my jolida. it's bigger than the rack! i'm whimpering here but i think i've got tube envy too

so, how does it sound? let's just say i'd be very happy if it got "too heavy" for charlie to lug it around
wouldn't mind if it stayed w/ me for a long long time. it's about 4x the "ampness" of mine. it really is that good. first night out w/ it, i think we went through some 20+ cd's to pick out some challenging tracks. it does it all. clear and loud. very very loud. it actually let me find the limit of what my 805's could handle. my 35watt amp couldn't. the beast did it w/ ease, all w/ just 7watts (let me tell you though, those are some really pwrfl watts! ) it does what mine does, but it does it louder while not losing any speed nor clarity. i guess there's something to be said for quality design/components as well as having dedicated monoblocks.

in components alone this thing is twice as costly as my jolida. in a store, this could easily be a $3k+ item. all i can say is charlie did an awesome job.

it was charlie's idea. he actually arrived w/ them and they work remarkably well. until you have to move the 'thing' over and they start jumping and popping out from underneath. i think i may connect them w/ some 'smart strings' so they always line up to the correct spacing

}{, which 805's do you have (the boxy ones or the newer, curvy ones)? I drive 100 (admittedly solid-state) watts into mine, and I easily find their limit - and it's not loud. I'd love to hear if they sound better with a tube amp, but I've tested them with 2 solid-states and they still distort before I can get my ears to bleed...

Wonder what it would sound like with my Von Schweikert VR3s... They're not all that big, but I would venture they can hadle a bit more power then the 805s.

Please add my name to the "in-home audition list"!
