Yes (both). The car will be not-particularly-competitive in PCA, and less so in NASA.

It doesn't affect the rollbar much and it doesn't add much weight compared to removing the whole thing and replacing with a stock sheet of steel.

As for the seat rails, you definitely want to remove them if you're 6'2" or taller (which yous is). I have sliders mounted on a small subframe that sits below the seats.

With the Sparco Evo 2 Tall seat I get two + inches of clearance.

From what I remember, the fitting of the seats was fairly expensive because of needing to create the custom framing, but the cost to have them fix the sunroof was cheap.
Why are the frames different on the two sides (i.e. why is the passenger one different from the driver)?

FWIW The front running stock E 911 cars have consistently done the following :

blueprint stock engine.
replace stock bumpers with fiberglass bumpers.
replace rear deck and tail with a one piece fiberglass one. ( preferably the 53 inch IROC one )
light weight battery
17 or 18 inch custom offset wheels to run 245 and 275's.
23/31 or 33 tbars.
adjustable sway bars
add needed ballast back to floor of car.
Guards limited slip

Stock class ? Maybe in name only

I'm sure I've missed something.

Good luck with the build Dr. K

Don't be an idiot and paint the car a dark color. Have you not read all the threads about cool suits etc? As a jackass with a black on black car used at the track often, do not go this route!

Given your profession, a brown starfish motif would be fitting.

Repaint it white and add vinyl graphics, ala CUP CAR to spicen it up when its time.

I don't think stock classes have appeared very stock in a very long time for PCA.. which annoys me.

They are different because the driver seat is on sliders and therefore has to be more towards the front to adjust to multiple folks. I did this mainly because I plan on having instructors in the car and possibly driving. Plus a slider makes tightening your belts easier. The passenger side is fixed as far back as possible about an inch off the rear bar.

In terms of paint colors, the car is already black, and the paint job is not going to include door jams, engine compartment, wheel wells, etc., so painting white or light beige (or gold...) would not look right. I agree about dark colors being hot, but having rented white cars in Florida, I don't notice them to be significantly cooler than the dark cars (now lighter upholstery does seem to make a difference, but I won't have that, either). Guess I'll need to save up for a cool suit.

Another question - what makes an engine "blueprinted?" Are the parts different during the rebuild? Do they have a bin of each item, and match them carefully cylinder to cylinder? Would a rull rebuild with new bearings, guides, rings, etc. be close or is this, like, a double-the-price-of-a-full-rebuild issue? Sorry for being such a n00b...
