A/C servicing
Anyone have a good recommendation for a person or company that services air conditioning? The company I used in the past no longer services my condo building.

All, I need some advice. I have an issue with my a/c at my place and I am being told I need to have my coil condensor chemically cleaned, and that it will cost $650 to do so. Is anyone familiar with this work, and does that sound like an accurate price?

Do you have access to the unit? If so, cleaner is cheap or you can use simple green. Rinse it off with hose.

First, are you sure its the condenser coil and not the indoor coil?
The condenser is the big noisy thing that lives outside. Condo systems typically have then located on the ground level or on the roof in groups with the condo number on each one. The indoor evaporator coil is inside the air handler in the condo. Assuming its actually the condenser coil: Locate the condenser for your unit. Find the service disconnect and pull the fuse. Unbolt the covers, go crazy with the cleaner and hose it out from the inside to the outside. Done. Simple Green is OK, but AC supply stores have specific coil cleaning products that are better. $650 is the bend over price.

Good advice. If it's a residential unit it should be straight forward. I've seen some commercial units that are way more complicated, seem to be built in layers.

I bought a few of these and went to town earlier this summer. Helped a bunch. Yes, rinse from inside out. If it doesn't help/work, your only out ~$20 and your time, vs $650.
